The fine of 50 silver pieces is just the offender’s payment for the pleasure he received. A seducer must additionally pay for the girl’s embarrassment and damages on top of the fixed amount prescribed by the Torah. A rapist must also pay for the physical pain he caused the girl; a seducer is not required to pay for pain because a girl who participates voluntarily is not injured. Regarding rape, however, the Torah refers to it as a violation (Deuteronomy 22:29).

Therefore, a seducer makes three payments: the fine plus penalties for the girl’s embarrassment and damages. A rapist makes four payments: the fine plus penalties for the girl’s embarrassment, pain and damages.
