899. Four Aspects of Shabbos

Shabbos 29:29

A bracha is recited over spices on Saturday night because one’s soul is depressed by the departure of Shabbos. We therefore gladden our souls with a pleasant fragrance.

Shabbos 30:1

There are four aspects to Shabbos, two of which are from the Torah and two of which are rabbinic in nature, having been expressed by the Prophets. The Torah commands us to remember Shabbos and to observe it; the Prophets expressed the ideas of honor and pleasure as per Isaiah 58:13, “You shall call Shabbos a delight, sanctified to God and honored.”
