4,027. Other Kinds of Blemish

Hilchos Bias HaMikdash 7:12

There are three other kinds of blemish: (1) an older person who has reached the stage where he trembles and shakes when he stands; (2) a sick person who shakes because of his disease and his loss of strength. A treifah (i.e., one who will die from a physical defect) is fit for people (i.e., for kohanim to serve) but unfit for animals (for use as offerings). A person born via C–section is likewise fit, but such an animal is unfit.

Hilchos Bias HaMikdash 7:13

(3) A foul odor. If a kohein has a bad smell because of sweat, he may bathe and perfume himself and serve. If he has bad breath, he can put something like pepper, ginger, etc. in his mouth and serve. If he serves with a foul odor from sweat or bad breath, he profanes the service just like a kohein with any other kind of blemish.
