3,994. Being Suspended in the Temple

Hilchos Bias HaMikdash 3:19

If a ritually unclean person enters the Temple through the roof, he is exempt. This is inferred from Leviticus 12:4: “She shall not enter the Temple,” which is understood to mean the normal manner of entering. While exempt, one is still subject to stripes for rebellious behavior. This also applies if one enters the Temple in a box suspended in the air, whether through the roof or a normal entrance.

Hilchos Bias HaMikdash 3:20

Regarding something ritually unclean that is found in the Temple on Shabbos, if it’s in a place where one would be subject to kareis (excision) for intentionally entering in a state of impurity – or a sacrifice for doing so unintentionally – the object must be removed. If it’s somewhere else, it should be covered with some vessel until after Shabbos. Such an item must be removed only with a flat wooden utensil, as such utensils are not susceptible to ritual uncleanliness. To do otherwise would actually increase the amount of ritual impurity in the Temple.
