#254: Squeezing onto Salad

1. We mentioned yesterday that one may squeeze liquid from a fruit into a solid. However, one may not squeeze liquid into another liquid or into an empty cup, even if one then plans to pour it onto a solid (Bi’ur Halachah 320:4; Yalkut Yosef 320:20).

2. One may squeeze juice from a lemon or other fruit onto salad, even if the liquid is not absorbed, but remains on top of the solid. This is true provided the liquid is added to enhance the taste of the salad, and not to drink the liquid (Shemirat Shabbat K'hilchatah 5:7).
