2,427. Eating From Which One Derives Benefit
Maachalos Assuros 14:9
Similar to the situation in the previous halacha, if someone drinks a reviis of regular non-Jewish wine a little at a time – or liquid chometz on Pesach, forbidden fat or blood – if he pauses from start to finish the time it takes to drink a reviis, it combines; if not, it doesn’t combine.
Maachalos Assuros 14:10
One isn’t liable for eating any prohibited foods unless he eats them in a way from which one derives benefit; the exceptions are meat-and-milk combinations and mixed species that grew in a vineyard, about which the Torah doesn’t limit the prohibition to eating. Rather, it refers to cooking and sanctification, from which we infer that they are prohibited even without the benefits of eating.
