Eduyos 7:8-9
Eduyos 7:8
Menachem ben Signai testified that the rims of cauldrons used by those who boil olives are susceptible to ritual uncleanliness but that the rims of those used by dyers are insusceptible. Previously, they used to say the opposite.
Eduyos 7:9
Rabbi Nechuniah ben Gudgada testified that a minor girl with congenital deafness who was married off by her father is released by a get (bill of divorce) and that a minor orphan girl of an Israelite family who married a kohein may eat trumah. If she dies, her husband inherits her. He also testified that if a thief built a stolen beam into a building, he has to repay its value (rather than the item itself). Finally, he testified that a stolen sin offering that is not publicly known effects atonement; this is in order to keep the altar from inactivity (out of fear that the animals brought for sacrifices might have been stolen).
