Avos 2:12-13
Avos 2:12
Rabbi Yosi said that your friend’s property should be as important to you as your own, make yourself fit to study Torah because it’s not just given to us like an inheritance, and all your deeds should be performed for the sake of Heaven.
Avos 2:13
Rabbi Shimon said that we must be careful when reciting the Shema and Shemoneh Esrei. When praying, we must not make our prayers a rote obligation, but rather a plea for mercy and a petition to God as per Joel 2:13, “He is gracious, compassionate, long-suffering, abundant in kindness, and He overlooks punishment." Finally, one should not do things that make him consider himself to be evil.
