Avos 2:10-11
Avos 2:10
Each of Rabban Yochanan ben Zakkai’s students said three things. Rabbi Eliezer said to let your friend’s honor be as important to you as your own, not to be easily angered, and to repent the day before you die (which could be any time). Warm yourself by the fire of the Sages but don’t get too close because their glowing coals can burn a person; their bite is like a fox bite, their sting is like a scorpion sting, their hiss is like that of a serpent, and their words are like fiery coals.
Avos 2:11
Rabbi Yehoshua said that the evil eye, one’s evil inclination and a hatred for mankind drive a person from the world.
