1,766. Sending a Get Outside of Israel

Hilchos Geirushin 7:5

Let’s say that an agent delivers a get from one place to another outside of Israel, from Israel to outside Israel or from outside Israel to Israel. If the agent was there when the get was written and signed, he should say in front of two witnesses that it was written and signed in his presence. Later, the get is delivered in their presence and divorce is effected even if we don’t know who the witnesses are. We are not concerned even if the witnesses have non-Jewish names.

Hilchos Geirushin 7:6

If the husband claimed that such a get is a forgery, his words are immaterial. Therefore, even women who are presumed to hate one another are trusted to deliver a get in such cases, stating that it was written and signed in their presence.
