1,440. Who Conducts the Examination?

Hilchos Ishus 2:20

The inspection of a girl for signs of maturity, whether conducted during her twelfth year, after she has reached the age of 12 or when she is older, is only performed by trustworthy women. Even if an inspection was conducted by just one woman, her word is accepted.

Hilchos Ishus 2:21

When we discuss years regarding the age of a son or a daughter, donating a person’s valuation or in any other context, we refer neither to lunar years nor to solar years, but rather to the years as calculated by the court (i.e., lunisolar years), both regular and leap years, as we discussed in Hilchos Kiddush HaChodesh. These are the years intended in all matters of religious observance.
