When To Sing? The Chasam Sofer Uncovers the Timing of the "Songs of the Sea"
Rashi in Shelach says tzitzit correspond to Yetziat Mitzrayim and the 8 strings correspond to the eight days that Bnei Yisrael waited until they sang (at the Yam Suf). But in Parshat Beshalach he says that they sang Shirat HaYam on the seventh day after leaving Egypt! Did they sing Az Yashir on the seventh day or on the eighth day?
