Why is the first mitzvah after Ma'amad Har Sinai the rules of an Eved Ivri - it doesn't seem fundamental nor was it relevant until after they entered the land!
Why do we pierce the ear of an Eved Ivri? Because he heard at Har Sinai that we are servants of Hashem and not other people. Shouldn't this apply to all mitzvot? Why do we do it specifically by the doorpost?
