In every kind of calculation, when you accumulate fractions or add numbers together, every denomination should be added to the appropriate group: seconds to seconds, minutes to minutes, and degrees to degrees. Seconds are to be grouped into sets of 60; when 60 seconds is reached, they are converted into a minute and added to that group. Minutes are likewise grouped into sets of 60; when 60 minutes is reached, they are converted into a degree and added to that group. Degrees are grouped into sets of 360. If one exceeds 360, then 360 (one complete rotation) is subtracted and what remains is the relevant number.

Whenever you want to subtract one number from another, if the second number is larger than the first, even by a single minute, then one must add 360 degrees to the first number in order to perform the operation.
