I Chronicles - Chapter 25
Music Lessons
David and his officers separated the sons of Asaf, Heiman and Yedusun from the other Levites to serve as musicians. Those three Levites had prophesied to musical accompaniment and their inspired words are included in the Book of Psalms. The members of these three families included enough people (288) to meet the musical needs of all 24 watches. The heads are listed in verses 3-6 and we are told who studied music under whom. The results of their lottery for the duty roster are given in verses 9-31 and we are informed that the master musicians and the novices competed for the same positions.
