517. Feeding Another Person

Brachos 6:19

It is prohibited to feed a person who did not wash his hands even by putting the food directly into his mouth. It is forbidden to treat hand-washing lightly; the Sages cautioned us about this strongly and repeatedly. Even if one only has a small amount of water to drink, he should wash his hands with part of it before eating and drink the rest.

Brachos 6:20

One must dry his hands between washing and eating. If a person eats without drying his hands, he is considered to have eaten impure bread. Similarly, when washing hands after eating, one must dry them before bentching. One should bentch immediately after washing his hands, without making any interruptions. It is prohibited even to drink water between washing mayim achronim and bentching.
