485. Sheva Brachos

Brachos 2:11

The seven wedding brachos are: (1) Creator of man; (2) Who created all things for His glory; (3) Who created man in His image, reflecting His likeness, and prepared for him from his own being a structure that will endure forever. Blessed are You, Hashem, Creator of man; (4) The barren one will rejoice and exult as her children are gathered to her with joy. Blessed are You, Hashem, Who causes Zion to rejoice over her children; (5) Grant joy to these beloved companions as You granted joy to Your creation in the Garden of Eden at the beginning. Blessed are You, Hashem, Who grants joy to the groom and the bride; (6) Who created joy and happiness, the bride and the groom, gladness, song, cheer and delight, love and harmony, peace and friendship. Soon, Hashem our God, may there be heard in the cities of Judah and the outskirts of Jerusalem, the sound of rejoicing and the sound of joy, the sound of a groom and the sound of a bride, the sound of grooms rejoicing from their wedding canopies and of youths from their songs. Blessed are You, Hashem, who grants joy to the groom together with the bride. [The seventh bracha is over the wine.]

Brachos 2:12

Let’s say that someone is bentching on Shabbos or yom tov and he forgets to mention the unique nature of the day. If he remembers before he starts the fourth bracha, he says “Blessed is the One Who gave rest to His people Israel as a sign and a holy covenant. Blessed are You, Hashem, Who sanctifies Shabbos” and/or “Blessed is the One Who gave festivals to His people Israel for rejoicing and happiness. Blessed are You, Hashem, who sanctifies Israel and the seasons” as appropriate. He then starts the fourth bracha and finishes bentching. If he does not realize his error until after he has started the fourth bracha, he should stop where he is and go back to the beginning of bentching.
