2,873. Witnesses Who Differ About Someone's Nezirus
Hilchos Nezirus 3:9
Let’s say that two pairs of witnesses testify about someone. One pair testifies that he made two nazirite vows, while the other pair testifies that he made five such vows. In such a case, the person in question must observe two periods of nezirus. This is because two is included in five, so all the witnesses agree that he made two nazirite vows.
Hilchos Nezirus 3:10
Let’s say that someone made two nazirite vows, either both at once or one after the other, such as by saying, “I’m a nazir for a day,” “I’m a nazir for a day.” This person counted the days of the first nezirus and designated his offerings, but then he asked a Torah scholar to release him from his vow. In such a case, the days he observed towards the first, absolved nezirus period can be counted towards the second. He can bring the offerings that he already designated and fulfill his obligation. Even if he already brought his offerings and shaved off his hair before asking to be released from his vow, his observance of the first vow fulfills the obligations of the second. This is because the second vow doesn’t take effect until the first one has been completed. Since the person had his first vow absolved, it’s as if it never even existed in the first place.
