2,839. Voiding a Vow
Hilchos Nedarim 13:5
Voiding a vow means that he compels her to do something that she prohibited herself, which is not part of annulling a vow. Rather, one annuls a vow with words and permits her. If she wants to do the thing she prohibited, she may, but she doesn’t have to.
Hilchos Nedarim 13:6
Pursuant to the previous halacha, let’s say that a woman made a vow or an oath not to eat or drink. If her father or husband said that the vow is annulled, it’s annulled. She may then eat and drink if she so desires. However, if he gave her something and told her to eat it or drink, she may eat and drink and the vow is consequently annulled.
