Garment salesmen may carry their stock on their shoulders without it being a problem of shaatnez so long as they do not use the garments to protect themselves from the sun or the rain. Religiously zealous people, however, will hang such garments on a staff behind them.

Kilayim 9:6

Tailors may sew with garments in their laps without it being a problem of shaatnez, again so long as they do not use the garments to protect themselves from the sun or the rain. Religiously zealous people, however, will spread the garment on the ground.
