2,482. Not to Delay the Call of Nature

It is prohibited for one to postpone answering the call of nature, whether his bladder or his bowel. One who postpones relieving himself is considered one who makes his soul detestable on top of all the serious medical problems he is tempting, which make him liable for his own life. Rather, one should train himself to evacuate and void at specific times so that he won’t have to excuse himself and he won’t make his soul detestable.

One who is careful in these things brings more holiness and purity to his soul and he cleanses his soul for God as per Leviticus 11:44, “You shall sanctify yourselves and you shall be holy because I am holy.”
