Saying Nachem in Confusing Times

• As Tisha B’Av approaches, we again face the confusing reality of commemorating and re-experiencing the tragedies of the Jewish people, at the same time as living in an unprecedented time of hope and possibly even the beginning of redemption.
• How are we meant to balance these contradictory emotions? Should we still mourn? Should we recite the traditional text of Nachem at Mincha on 9 Av, which speaks of a mourning, destroyed, despised and desolate Jerusalem? Should we amend the text?
