2,202. A Woman Who Acquired Multiple Prohibitions
Hilchos Issurei Biah 17:10
Continuing from the previous halacha, when the woman becomes a divorcee, she becomes prohibited to a Kohein Gadol by an additional prohibition in that she is now also prohibited to a regular kohein. This adds another prohibition on top of intimacy with a widow. Such a woman, however, is still qualified to eat trumah. When she becomes a chalalah, still another prohibition is added because now she is prohibited to eat trumah, though she is still permitted to marry a Yisroel (i.e., an Israelite). If she becomes a zonah, yet another prohibition is added because one type of promiscuity prohibits her also to an Israelite, namely a married woman who willingly participated in adultery. The aforementioned rule also applies to a regular kohein who was intimate with a divorcee who became a chalalah and then a zonah, i.e., he is lashed three times for a single act. If the order in which the woman acquired these prohibitions is changed, he is only lashed once.
Hilchos Issurei Biah 17:11
If a woman is widowed or divorced from several different men, a kohein is only lashed once for each act of intimacy. A woman is prohibited as a widow regardless of whether she was widowed after betrothal or after the marriage was finalized.
