2,068. How to Tell If the Wound Has Healed
Hilchos Issurei Biah 5:23
We know whether a hymeneal wound has healed or not as follows: if the woman finds blood when she stands but not when she sits, or if she would finds blood when she sits on the ground but not when she sits on bedding and cushions, then the wound hasn’t healed. If the bleeding stops and she doesn’t find blood when standing or when sitting on a cushion, then the wound has healed. Similarly, even if the bleeding hasn’t stopped, if she continues to find blood when she sitting on bedding and cushions, we assume that this is menstrual blood rather than blood from the wound.
Hilchos Issurei Biah 5:24
If the woman finds blood during intimacy, the presumption is that it comes from the wound. If she was intimate and didn’t find blood, but later she found blood not related to the act of intimacy, then it is presumed to be menstrual blood.
