2,063. Discharging Solid Matter
Hilchos Issurei Biah 5:13
If a woman discharges flesh she is only rendered ritually unclean if it is accompanied by blood; this is true even if the discharge is red. If it’s not accompanied by blood, then she remains ritually clean. If the flesh discharged is cut open and found to be filled with blood, she nevertheless remains ritually clean because it’s not niddah blood.
Hilchos Issurei Biah 5:14
If a woman discharges flesh that is torn and there’s blood collected in it, then she is rendered ritually unclean. If she discharges something like a shell, like a hair, like soil or like gnats, then if they are red they are placed in warm water. If they dissolve, she is ritually unclean because they were congealed blood and dried blood renders a woman ritually unclean. If the discharge remains in the warm water for more than a day and then dissolves, there is a doubt as to whether the woman is clean or unclean. If they don’t dissolve after an entire day, they are from a wound and the woman remains ritually clean.
