2,012. Invalidating the Scroll

Hilchos Sotah 4:6

If the woman says that she committed adultery, the water is poured out even if the scroll has already been blotted out because the water hasn’t been sanctified. Her flour offering is scattered on the ash pile.

Hilchos Sotah 4:7

If the scroll for a suspected woman is written at night, it is unusable as per Numbers 5:22-25, which tells us that the kohein must “write,” “give her to drink,” and “offer.” Just as the woman’s sacrifice may only be offered by day, writing the scroll and having the woman drink must also be performed only by day. If the scroll is written out of order, it is unusable. This is derived from Numbers 5:23, which specifies “these,” meaning that they must be written in their prescribed order. If the kohein wrote the scroll before the woman accepted the oath, it is unusable as per Numbers 5:21-23, which says, “He shall administer the oath... and he shall write.”
