2,003. Bringing the Flour for the Offering
Hilchos Sotah 3:12
Next, the kohein would bring an isaron (a certain measure) of barley flour that had been purchased by the woman’s husband; this was placed in an Egyptian basket. The rope and the basket were purchased using funds from the Temple treasury. The basket of barley flour was placed in the woman’s hands in order to tire her.
Hilchos Sotah 3:13
Next, the flour offering was taken from the basket and put into a Temple vessel. Oil and frankincense were not put on this offering; if they were put on it, one would be lashed for putting oil on it and separately for putting frankincense on it as per Numbers 5:15, “He shall not pour oil on it, nor shall he put frankincense on it.”
