2,001. The Scroll and the Water
Hilchos Sotah 3:8
Next, a parchment scroll made from a kosher animal is brought, like the parchment used to write a sefer Torah. On it is written, word for word, letter for letter, the whole section that was read to the woman as her oath. It must be written in Hebrew with ink that doesn’t contain copper sulfate (which can’t be erased). It must be written for this particular woman, just like a get must be written for a particular woman. God’s Name is written as per usual. “Amen, Amen” is not written.
Hilchos Sotah 3:9
Next, they bring an earthenware vessel that has never been used for any work and that doesn’t look aged. An aged vessel that is re-fired to make it look new is acceptable. A half-log of water (about six ounces) from the basin is put into this vessel. There was a measuring utensil of the appropriate volume in the Temple. The water was then brought into the Sanctuary.
