1,992. Pregnant and Nursing Women
Hilchos Sotah 2:6
The following women are like any other wife in that they may remain married and must drink the bitter water: a convert, a freed servant girl, the wife of a convert, the wife of a freed servant man, a mamzeres*, the wife of a mamzer*, and the wife of a man who is impotent, regardless of whether he became impotent through natural causes or human actions.
Hilchos Sotah 2:7
A pregnant or nursing woman must drink the bitter water in that condition (i.e., we don’t delay the ceremony until she has given birth or weaned her child). If a woman must drink the bitter water but her husband dies before she does so, she neither drinks nor does she receive the value of her kesubah.
*The product of an incestuous or adulterous relationship, often translated “bastard” but not equivalent to the English meaning of that word.
