1,985. Being Suspected Again

Hilchos Sotah 1:12

Let’s say that a suspected woman drank the bitter water and passed the test. Later, her husband warned her again about seclusion with that same man. If she’s secluded with him, he can’t make her drink a second time for the same man. Rather, she becomes prohibited to her husband forever and must be divorced without receiving the value of her kesubah. However, if the husband warns her against seclusion with a different man, and she was secluded with that man in front of witnesses, then she can be made to drink the water again. This can actually happen multiple times so long as her husband has her drink each time because of a different man.

Hilchos Sotah 1:13

Let’s say that a woman’s husband had her drink the bitter water because of a certain man and he later divorced her. If this woman remarries, the second husband can issue a warning against seclusion with that same man. If she’s secluded with that man, her husband can make her drink the bitter water again because he’s a different husband. Even if 100 men married this woman in succession, each of them can have her drink the bitter water because of seclusion with the same man.
