1,954. If Each Husband Had a Son From a Different Wife
Yibum v’Chalitzah 8:7
Continuing from the previous halacha, let’s say that the woman’s first husband and her second husband each had a son with a different wife but one of these sons died. The son whose paternity is in doubt may perform either chalitzah or yibum with the widow. If the deceased was his paternal brother, then he has performed a valid yibum; if not, then they’re unrelated and it’s a regular permitted marriage.
Yibum v’Chalitzah 8:8
If the son of doubtful paternity dies, then one of the other two sons should perform chalitzah with the widow, after which the other should perform yibum. If the deceased was his brother, then he has performed yibum; if he’s the son of the other father, then the widow has performed chalitzah and may re-marry.
