1,865. If Several Brothers Die
Yibum v’Chalitzah 1:10
Let’s say that some of the deceased’s widows are able to marry kohanim and others are not. If the brother wants to perform yibum, he can choose any one of them but if he wants to perform chalitzah, he should only do so with one of the wives who already may not marry a kohein. This is so he shouldn’t disqualify a woman who can marry a kohein by performing chalitzah with her.
Yibum v’Chalitzah 1:11
Let’s say that many brothers die and one surviving brother becomes obligated with all of their wives. If he can perform yibum with all of them, he should. If this is not the case, he can perform chalitzah with all of them, or chalitzah with some and yibum with others from his brothers’ various houses.
