1,850. Overhearing Minors
Hilchos Geirushin 13:9
An exception to not accepting a minor’s words is if one heard children saying that they just came from a certain person’s funeral, that X number of people recited eulogies, that Rabbi Y and others escorted the casket, and that the casket was disposed of in manner Z. In such a case, one may offer this as testimony and it is sufficient to enable the widow to remarry.
Hilchos Geirushin 13:10
If a Jew claims to have killed a certain person, the deceased’s wife is able to remarry based on his testimony. While a person can’t incriminate himself through his own testimony, we accept the part of his testimony about the man being dead.
