1,787. Remarrying Before a Condition Has Been Met
Hilchos Geirushin 8:23
Let’s say that a man divorces his wife on the condition that she give him a certain utensil or a certain garment but that utensil or garment gets lost or stolen. Even if she pays him 1,000 zuz to make up for it, divorce is not effected until she gives him that particular object or until he withdraws the condition.
Hilchos Geirushin 8:24
Let’s say that a woman was divorced conditionally and another man betrothed her before the condition was met. If the condition is later fulfilled, betrothal is effected, but if the condition is not met and the get is voided, she doesn’t need a get from the second man because it wasn’t possible to betroth her. If she remarried and the condition is not met, thereby voiding the get, she must be divorced by the second man, as was explained in halacha 8:13.
