1,784. When Additional Conditions Do and Don't Revise Existing Conditions
Hilchos Geirushin 8:17
Pursuant to the previous halacha, let’s say that a man gives a get to his wife saying, “You are divorced with this get and are free to marry any man except for person X.” If he takes the get back and gives it to her again saying simply that she is free to marry any man or that this is her get, then divorce is effected. This is true in all comparable cases.
Hilchos Geirushin 8:18
If a man gives his wife a get on the condition that she give him 200 zuz, and he later stipulates in front of witnesses that she must serve his father for two years, his second condition doesn’t nullify the first. Rather, it’s as if he told her to fulfill one of two conditions. She can either serve his father or give him the money, whichever she prefers. A witness to the first condition cannot testify alongside a witness to the second condition. However, if the man originally stipulated that the woman must give him 200 zuz and he later stipulated in front of witnesses that she must give him 300 zuz, the original condition of 200 zuz is nullified and she must give him 300. The is true in all similar circumstances.
