1,769. If the Witness Saw Part of the Get Written

Hilchos Geirushin 7:11

If a get was written in Israel and signed elsewhere, the agent must say that it was written and signed in his presence. If it was written elsewhere and signed in Israel, he need not make such a statement.

Hilchos Geirushin 7:12

If part of a get was written in the agent’s presence plus it was signed in his presence, then he may say that it was written and signed in his presence. This is true so long as even one line of the first part was written in his presence. Even if he only heard the sound of the pen scratching and the witnesses signed in his presence, he may say that it was written and signed in his presence. Similarly, even if the scribe went to the market and later came back and finished the get, the agent need not be concerned that someone else encountered the scribe and contracted a get with the result that the scribe finished this get for that other person. Rather, he can still state that it was written and signed in his presence.
