1,751. Who May Serve as an Agent for a Get?

Hilchos Geirushin 6:5

A woman is not divorced via a get that was sent by her husband or that was brought by a retrieval agent until it reaches her hand. When the word “agent” is used in reference to a get without any more detail, it means an agent for delivery or an agent for retrieval.

Hilchos Geirushin 6:6

Anyone may act as an agent for divorce as a receiving agent, a delivery agent or a retrieval agent, except for a non-Jew, a servant, a person with congenital deafness, a person lacking mental competence and a minor. If one of these people delivers or accepts a get, divorce is not effected.
