1,726. If a Disqualified Person Wrote Part of a Get

Hilchos Geirushin 3:17

If one of the aforementioned five types of people writes the boilerplate text of the get and leaves blank the places for the couple’s names, the date and the sentence “Behold, you are permitted to marry any man,” which were then filled in by a mentally-competent adult Jew with proper intention, then the get is valid.

Hilchos Geirushin 3:18

A person with congenital deafness, a person lacking mental competence and a minor are permitted to write the boilerplate text of a get as long as they’re supervised by a Jewish adult with full mental faculties. A non-Jew and a servant, however, should not be permitted to write the boilerplate text of a get even if supervised because permission to write the boilerplate text of a get was only given to make it easier on the scribes, as was discussed in halacha 3:7.
