172. Fixed Times for Study
27:3 If someone is not able to make Torah study his main activity but he has set fixed times for Torah study, he should use these sessions to study the halachos that are most common and necessary for every Jew to know. He should also study aggadah and Midrash, as well as mussar to help him overcome his evil inclination. Happy are those who have made a regular, serious commitment to study the book “Chok l'Yisrael,” which contains daily portions of study. Whoever increases his Torah studies is given increased blessings from Heaven.
27:4 If one is studying Torah and must go out, the book should not be left open. Doing so is believed to spiritually cause one to forget what he has learned.
