This is also the case for cinnamon and licorice root, since one sucks out the flavor and spits out the main part. 53:1 On any fruit or vegetable that is squeezed to extract juice, the bracha on the juice is shehakol. This includes the honey of dates. This is because juice is not considered like the fruit except when it comes to wine and olive oil. Wine is considered so significant that it merits its own bracha, borei pri hagafen. Olive oil is also considered important so if one uses it in a way that requires a bracha, it would be ho’eitz.
