1,526. A Week of Celebration

Hilchos Ishus 10:12

The Sages decreed that when a man marries a virgin, he should rejoice with her for seven days. He should not go to work or occupy himself with business transactions. Rather, he should eat, drink and celebrate with her. This is true whether or not the groom was previously married. If the bride is not a virgin, they should celebrate for at least three days, again regardless of whether or not the husband was previously married.

Hilchos Ishus 10:13

A man could marry several women at the same time on the same day and recite the wedding brachos for all of them at once. When it comes to the marriage celebrations, however, he must rejoice with each of them for the appropriate length of time – seven days for a virgin and three days for others. The wedding celebrations may not be combined.
