1,514. Canceling an Agent

Hilchos Ishus 9:19

Let’s say that a woman says she doesn’t know whether she is consecrated to the agent or to the one who appointed the agent. If the agent wasn’t appointed in front of witnesses, she is consecrated to him. If he was appointed in front of witnesses, then both men must give the woman a get, or one may give her a get and the other may consummate the marriage.

Hilchos Ishus 9:20

Let’s say that a woman appoints an agent to accept kiddushin for her, which he does, but while he was out doing so, she revoked his status as her agent with the result that we don’t know whether she canceled him as agent before or after he accepted kiddushin for her. In such as case, there is a doubt as to whether marriage has been effected or not. The same is true when a man appoints an agent and subsequently revokes his agency.
