1,464. Can a Man Effect Marriage When Drunk?

Hilchos Ishus 4:17

The designated servant woman referred to in Leviticus 19:20 is a woman who is half servant and half free who was consecrated by a Jewish servant. If a man who is half servant and half free consecrates a woman, then there is a doubt as to whether marriage is effected.

Hilchos Ishus 4:18

If a drunken man consecrates a woman, marriage is effected even if he is very impaired. If he reaches the degree of intoxication experienced by Lot (i.e., a state in which he is utterly unaware of what he is doing), then marriage is not effected.
