592. The Four Shabbos Domains

In an introductory note to this chapter, the Kitzur Shulchan Aruch writes that most Jews are already familiar with the prohibited labors of Shabbos and that he is only addressing common situations with which people may not be familiar. Clearly, the laws of Shabbos constitute an area requiring much greater study than this email alone will allow. 80:93 One should not make a bed on Shabbos for use after Shabbos, even if there is enough time left that one could still sleep on it on Shabbos. Since his intention is not to sleep on it until after Shabbos, it constitutes preparing on Shabbos for the week, which is not permitted. (Nowadays, making the bed would be considered making the house presentable and therefore a Shabbos need and permitted - Mishnah Brurah 302:19.)
