Ask What You Can Do for Yerushalayim

We pray at the Gates of Heaven - Yerushalayim - and for Yerushalayim. This we can derive from The Yerushalmi: בירושלמי ברכות פ"ד ה"ה דרשו את הכתוב: כמגדל דוד צוארך בנוי לתלפיות תל שכל פיות מתפללים עליו. It is our responsibility to stand up for our home - even if the effort to explain to the world the beauty of Yerushalayim is futile, we must explain it to ourselves. We must re-dedicate our efforts to study Torah in our city because, as the Gemara in Makkot 10a says: מי גרם לרגלינו שיעמדו במלחמה? שערי ירושלים שהיו עוסקים בתורה.
