Why is This Night Different? Appreciating the Power of Pesach

The fact that the children are inspired to ask why this night is different shows that we need to be astonished by how incredibly different the night of the Seder is from the rest of the year.

Rebbe Nachman: The child perceives that something is different and tries to understand what the difference is - is it that tonight we only eat matzah, that we dip twice, etc. We answer him that the real difference is עבדים היינו - that we were slaves and became free.

When the child asks what is different we first go through the technical differences and rule them out and offer a deeper answer - we began the night as slaves and by the end we will change into free people.
