R' Natan Adler: The Midrash says that ויקחו לי תרומה equals שמע ישראל. What is the connection between the two?

Why is the command ויקחו לי תרומה - to take for me rather than ויתנו לי תרומה - that they should give? If Moshe is to take then it's not voluntary!

Why did Bnei Yisrael go from the Avot (1) to 12 (the shevatim) to 600,000. Why was there no intermediate step between 1 and 12?
