Avot 3:7

What is the significance of five people who learn together? What is the significance of the number five?

Ten represents the ultimate unity; five represents four units with a fifth unit that joins the others together. Three represents balance - two extremes with a middle to balance the other two. Two is the beginning of society and consistency.
