Beshalach 5779
Ketav Sofer: God didn't guide the Jews via ארץ פלשתים though/because it was near. Was the concern simply that they may be afraid - ינחם usually means they might regret? What would they regret?
Why is Moshe's taking Yosef's bones recorded here and not when describing the Jews leaving at the end of Bo?
As far as Bnei Yisrael are concerned, Hashem's plan was to take them out for three days (the 400 years were not up) after which they would return to Egypt for the rest. It seemed to them Moshe had a different plan. Only after Kriyat Yam Suf did they "ויאמינו בה' ובמשה עבדו". This is why it emphasizes here that Moshe took Yosef's bones - emphasizing that they weren't returning.
