The Relationship of Torah Study to Middot Tovot - part two (Mishlei 25:21-22)

The dichotomy of the relationship between Torah and Middot Tovot:

Torah does not automatically affect a person, one needs to have positive character traits. If not it can have an adverse effect. However Chazal also say that Hashem laments - if only the Jewish people would forsake me and embrace the Torah since the light of the Torah itself will eventually bring them back to me (המאור שבה מחזירם למוטב).
